YouDecide.com does not collect any information from individuals who wish to browse our site without registering. In order to use our products and services, however, you must become a registered member. Registration is free. Additional information is collected as it is needed to process your requests for quote information or for other products or services.

Registration Information

We do collect additional personally identifiable information from you when you request a price quote for a particular product or service. We also collect information from you if you wish to enroll in or apply to certain programs. The information required to provide you with the quote, product or service varies, but it generally includes specific information needed by the providers in order to complete your request. For example, if you are seeking auto insurance quotes, we will request information about your motor vehicles, your driving records and your credit history. If you are interested in homeowner’s insurance or renter’s insurance, we will need information about your home and the value of items that you want to insure.

Cookies

The information we collect is used by the Provider Companies to generate a quote, and in some cases this quote is based on their underwriting guidelines. Disclosure of your personal information is not transmitted to the Provider Companies unless you request a quote, enrollment, or application either through this Web site or via telephone.

We save the information gathered from your membership and quote requests to make future quote requests more convenient for you. Saving the information allows us to pre-populate certain fields and make your next shopping experience faster and easier to complete. (Read further under “How We Protect Your Information” for details regarding the security of your saved information.) If you would like to modify and/or delete any information we have gathered from you, you may access your personal folder and click on “Update Member Info”.

How Our Provider Companies Use Your Information

Provider companies process your information according to their particular underwriting guidelines and operating policies. Each Provider Company’s quoting process differs to some degree. Some may require your social security number, some may check your claims history or driving record, and some may request your consumer credit report.

Provider Companies transmit the results of your quote request to YouDecide.com, and YouDecide.com delivers those results to you. Our agreements with the providers prohibits them from using your data for any purposes other than generating the quote. For example, Provider Companies will not use the information collected by YouDecide.com to telemarket their services to you, and will not place you on their mailing list. However, if you elect to purchase products or services from a Provider Company, that Provider Company will add you to its customer base and will handle your information in accordance with whatever policies it has in place with its customers.

Notification of Other Services and Products

The primary reasons YouDecide.com collects your e-mail, telephone number, and/or postal address is to notify you about quote results and/or communicate other important member information. Occasionally, YouDecide.com may also use your postal and/or e-mail address to inform you about products and services available through YouDecide.com. If you do not want to receive such notifications, you may simply contact YouDecide.com and ask to be removed from our marketing lists.

Other Parties and Your Privacy

YouDecide.com and its Provider Companies retain any personal information collected in connection with services available through YouDecide.com. We do not sell or otherwise transfer your personal information to unaffiliated companies, unless we notify you prior to collecting the data, what specific data will be provided to what specific third party and you will have an opportunity to opt-out.

However, we may in the future sell all or part of the YouDecide.com business, and in any such transaction, all of our customer information will be part of the transferred assets.
